 Who should attend?

The course is designed for those who are required to produce business reports as part of their role. It gives a solid grounding in the skills of producing effective and professional reports. A strong grasp of written English is required. Key aspects of grammar, spelling, and punctuation will be summarised.

Course objectives 

At the end of this course the delegates will be able to: 

 

  • Apply a structured approach to drafting that is aligned with procedural guidance. 
  • Adopt a clear, concise, and audience-specific style. 
  • Plan, draft, and refine efficiently and effectively using a structured framework. 
  • Understand the purpose and structure of each section of a report.  
  • Identify and plan to implement key learning points.

  • The basics of professional business writing overview ensuring the mechanics of writing are sound 
  • Commonly occurring mistakes and how to avoid them.
  • The purposes, conventions and structure of business reports.
  • Deciding on an appropriate style and tone.
  • Accessing, presenting and formatting supporting information.
  • The importance of a four-stage process - research, plan, draft, refine



TUITION METHODS

The course is highly participative, mostly at an individual level, combined with some awareness-raising small group exercises. Practical exercises accompany most topics, and delegates are encouraged to bring along examples of their work for individual discussion with the tutor.
