DIFFICULT CONVERSATIONS AND HANDLING CONFLICT

FOR:

Ideally suited to those who are expected to handle difficult staff matters and want to feel more confident and informed before doing so.

OBJECTIVES:

By the end of the day, delegates will:

  • Explore ways of understanding conflict

  • Consider the causes of conflict in the workplace

  • Agree what constitutes a conflict in the workplace

  • Become familiar with the conflict cycle

  • Identify early indicators of possible conflict

  • Recognise the positive aspects as well as the risks of conflict

  • Develop strategies for resolving conflict

  • Use case studies to adopt a structured approach to handling conflict

  • Presenting Win/Win

  • Agree a personal action plan

METHOD:

The day is structured so that delegates increase their confidence in identifying and resolving conflict.  There will be plenty of opportunity to work individually and participate in group discussion/ activities. Emphasis is on taking away useful tools and techniques that can be readily applied in the workplace.
